The quiz in 2024 was turned into a "Winter Quiz"  as it was held at the end of January this year.  60 people wracked their brains and enjoyed a hot stew and dumplings in the interval.  A net surplus of £803 was raised for the coffers and everyone is very happy.

The annual Candlelit Dinner was held in the church on Saturday 25 November 2023.  73 tickets were sold and a surplus of £1807 was made from this event.  Excellent gourmet food was provided by Martin Auton-Lloyd and his team and a fine evening was enjoyed by all.

A Gala Concert with "Last Night of the Proms" finale took place on Saturday, 23 September 2023, performed by professional musicians.  Songs from the Movies was the theme and the audience were encouraged to sing-along to many of them.  The evening was a great success and a good surplus was raised towards the funds of keeping the fabric of the church building in good condition.

The AGM and Garden Party
was held on Saturday, 29 July, beginning at 4.30pm for the AGM (members only) and immediately afterwards, c.5:00pm - 6.30pm, the Garden Party which took place outside in the churchyard - and a little bit in the church as it was chilly!  The Garden Party was open to everyone including families and friends of members.  As usual, there was no charge.  Prosecco and canapes were served, put together by our in-house catering team of Veronica Thomason and Martin-Auton Lloyd.  There was much fellowship and bon homie during the proceedings and everyone went away refreshed and happy.

Dates for 2024:

After the quiz mentioned above, the following events will take place:

29 June:  The Wellington Wailers concert - choir of RNLI lifeboatmen singing sea shanties supporting the RNLI and The Friends of St Nicholas'.  Very apt for this group to be singing these songs in what was once "the fishermen's church" in Brighthelmstone.

23 July:  AGM and Garden Party to be held in the church and the graveyard.

5 October:  The date is fixed for the Annual Lecture but as the moment of writing no speaker is booked.  So, watch this space ....
