Trees for the Churchyard and Peace Garden - Spring 2023

The Friends of St Nicholas' are pleased to confirm that, after much hard work by the Green Spaces Administrator, a grant of £10,000 has been awarded from the Urban Tree Challenge Fund to plant 24 trees in the Churchyard and Peace Garden.  The Friends of St Nicholas', as part of the application, has provided £1,700 of match funding in order to demonstrate support for the project.

The PCC (Parish Council) have now undertaken to oversee the project which will run for seven years. Brighton and Hove City Council have been supportive and will plant and water the trees.  It is hoped that the local community will be involved in supporting the ongoing project.

Sir Peter Field, KCVO, KStJ, JP

It is with the greatest pleasure that The Friends of St Nicholas' wish to announce the appointment of Sir Peter Field, KCVO, KStJ, JP, as their President with immediate effect.  Sir Peter recently retired as the Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex after 14 years of loyal service to the County, representing Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth at events held within the County.  We look forward to welcoming Sir Peter to The Friends and also to seeing him and Lady Field at our future events.
